Reopening Information

REOPENING INFORMATION

We are delighted to confirm that the practice is now open to see patients again. However, we will be doing this in phases as we are limited in the type of treatment we can provide for now (non-aerosol generating procedure) until a later date when the full complement of services will resume.

Provisional Timetable

Phase 1: We are working through the patients list to prioritise those who have had breakages, pain and urgent need of repair during the lockdown.

Phase 2: We will then work through the cancellation list from June 2020 to date.

Phase 3: We will be able to fit new appliances for those previously scheduled to start once the diary is normalised and are able to provide extended services.

Phase 4: We will be able to see new patients with a view to starting treatment soon after.

It is our hope that we will eventually be able to normalise the operation of the diary after some time. The Practice will open additional days of the week to help achieve this.

Our Virtual Video Consultations are still available for certain types of appointments such as Invisalign treatment, retainer checks and reviews. You may wish to avail yourself of this alternative, if applicable.

We would appeal for your continued patience as we will do our best to ensure you do not have to wait too long before an appointment is offered.

We have modified our procedures and facilities to comply with Government policies and guidelines ensuring safety for our staff and patients.

Please be reassured that dental practices are very safe environments before the pandemic and will continue to be in future.

The new measures will remain in place until further directives are given based on emerging scientific evidence regarding the pandemic.

Below is a summary of the New Orthodontic Appointment Protocol:

Smileville patient journey

If you or any of the people who live with you have any of the symptoms of Covid-19 or have been notified by NHS test and trace in the last 14 days that you are a contact of a person who tested positive for Covid-19, please contact us by phone as soon as you can, do not attend your appointment and please follow government guidelines on self-isolation.
If you are at higher risk of coronavirus or are shielding please let us know at the time of arranging the appointment so we can make appropriate adjustments to reduce your risk.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

We will contact you a few days before the appointment by phone, e-mail, or text message. The email or text message will contain the link to our COVID-19 screening questions and medical history form. We are asking you to please complete these forms, as failure to do so might result in the cancellation of your appointment.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

Before you come over to your appointment please visit the toilet at home and ensure that you brushed your teeth well enough before setting off because access to toilet facility at the practice is now restricted.
We will recommend the use of disclosing tablets to ensure that all the plaque has been fully removed. This will help our team to provide your treatment efficiently while also ensuring that your teeth and gum stay healthy.
We would kindly ask you to arrive for your appointment about 10 minutes earlier to afford time for the pre-appointment screening process.
When you arrive, our doors will be locked, so please call us to let us know that you arrived.

ENTERING THE PRACTICE
When our team is ready for you one of our nurses will come to meet you.
She will wear additional personal protective equipment including a face mask.
She will check if there are any changes to your answers to the screening questions submitted online.
She will open the practice door for you, please do not touch the door or any other items in the practice.
We regret that our toilet facilities will be closed at this time.
The dental nurse will measure your temperature with our contactless thermometer.
If your temperature is 37.8 Celsius or above we will have to re-arrange your appointment in accordance with government guidelines to maintain safety of everyone in the practice.
Please attend your appointment alone if possible unless you require assistance, or you are a child or vulnerable person. Parents can wait in the car or outside during the appointment.
If you are assisting the patient you will be asked the screening questions, have your temperature checked and will be asked to wear face mask (either your own or provided by us) upon entering the practice.
Once we have checked your temperature, the dental nurse will invite you to sanitise your hands with our contactless sanitiser.
Please do not bring any unnecessary items with you including coats, weather permitted, particularly if you are able to leave them in the car.
We might ask you to leave your belongings in a designated box outside the surgery.
Our receptionist will be wearing a face mask and visor.
We strongly encourage you to observe social distancing e.g. staying 2 metres apart from our staff members.
We will have signs on the floor to indicate 2-meter distance.

TREATMENT ROOM

When you enter the treatment room you will see our team wearing additional personal protective equipment. We will have to talk to you with our masks and visors on to minimise cross infection. This will have to continue as long as the pandemic lasts and/or government guidelines are changed. We apologise in advance for the reduction in social interaction that this will cause.
Please be reassured that we are still the same loving and caring team that you remember from pre-pandemic times with some new faces added to our team.
You will also see additional installed equipment designed to enhance the safety of all.

AT THE END OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

Once your treatment is finished a dedicated dental nurse will take you outside of the surgery, ask you to sanitise your hands again, arrange your next appointment with reception and take payments (if applicable) before you leave.
Payment
We would prefer contactless card payments or payments over the phone prior to the appointment (where applicable).
Wherever possible try not to come with cash. If you cannot avoid coming with cash, please bring this in a sealed clear plastic bag.

LEAVING THE CLINIC

Again, all the doors will be opened for you and we kindly ask you to not touch anything.
If you have any questions regarding your next appointment, we strongly recommend contacting us by phone once you left the practice.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients and to provide new enhanced infection control procedures. That might mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

IN CONCLUSION

All these safety measures will ensure that all our patients and the team stay safe and well for the foreseeable future.
We believe the vast majority of our patients are healthy without coronavirus and we are confident that we are able to provide orthodontic care for these patients in as normal an environment as possible while bearing in mind our responsibilities to mitigate risks of infection spread as far as is practically possible.
If you have any questions about your care at Smileville Orthodontics or about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact us on info@smilevilleorthodontics.co.uk
We are grateful for your understanding and continued cooperation.
Looking forward to seeing you shortly.
